Trifecta of Sadness

Over the past week we watched three movies, and you would be hard pressed to find a trio of films that are such downers.  Plus, they all had two word titles!

First there was Rabbit Hole, seen at the library.  I knew going in this would be a tough one.  Kidman and Eckhardt star as a couple whose four year old son chases the family dog into the street and is killed by a car.  The movie is set eight months after the incident, which makes it more bearable to watch.  You end up reacting more to their emotions than anything else.  Their acting helps you forget how pretty they are, and Kidman deserved her Oscar nod.

Third was Taxi Driver.  I'm sure when this came out in the 70s it was quite shocking.  Seems a bit dated now, but DeNiro is a force of nature in it.

The middle film was the one I was most anticipating, Black Swan.  This movie has virtually no plot.  And it totally doesn't need one.  It is all about a descent into madness.  Plot would just get in the way.  Natalie Portman flat out rocks.  Yes, I am biased towards her, but all the awards she won kind of backs me up on it.  It is a movie where you realize half way through that there can be no happy ending.  It keeps building from there and leaves you breathless at the end.

So now we need happy movies!  Anyone have any suggestions?

Worst Dress Ever?

Holy crap, I can assure you, I will NOT be wearing this dress:

More hideousness here!

Crazy Cake Toppers

Most cake toppers are lame or even offensive while trying to be humorous (i.e. a groom trying to get away from his hellish bride), so we're still looking for the perfect one - but in the meantime, these are the craziest I've found so far:

I couldn't do that to my Grandma, though. Or my in-laws.

Yeah, we kick ass!

This will be our blog for wedding updates and general tomfoolery. Enjoy!
